Securing what is good for Görlitz.
Order and cleanliness
Security is a top priority – and it starts in everyday life. The goal remains: order, cleanliness, and respect for the city we live in.
Balance sheet:
- Increase in the size of the municipal enforcement service
- Introduction of a ban on alcohol consumption at Marienplatz
- Video surveillance at key locations (e.g., on the Old Town Bridge since 2019)
- Design guidelines are being drafted to protect the cityscape
Goals:
-
Cleanliness campaign as a preventative measure
- Further video surveillance in public spaces is being considered
- further strengthening of the municipal enforcement service
Prevention and community networks
We focus on preventative security.
Balance sheet:
- Municipal prevention council re-established in Görlitz
- Building strong cooperation between the police, public order office, schools, social services, churches and associations
- close cooperation with the district in the area of crime prevention
- Security partnership between the city, Deutsche Bahn, and the security authorities
Goals:
- Establish permanent municipal prevention measures
- Strengthening prevention work in neighborhoods
- Participation of children and young people in security projects
Healthcare, rescue service, fire department
Security also means being cared for in an emergency.
Balance sheet:
- Investments in the Municipal Hospital (cardiac catheterization lab, geriatrics, hospital academy)
- Emergency medical services have been set up at Lake Berzdorf (German Red Cross rescue station)
- New fire station in the city center/Klingewalde on Cottbuser Straße
- Planning for the renovation and modernization of the professional fire brigade in Krölstraße
- Improvement of disaster relief structures, including in the event of flooding
Goals:
- rapid implementation of the new construction/renovation of the professional fire brigade
- further equipment for the volunteer fire brigades
- Good coordination between rescue services, fire brigade and disaster relief
Energy supply and sustainability
Security also means a reliable, climate-friendly energy supply. This includes projects such as "United Heat" (cross-border, climate-neutral district heating) and "Cross WATER" (cross-border groundwater management for a climate-resilient water supply)
- Heat planning for the entire city
- targeted support for the restoration of historical monuments within the framework of legal possibilities
- LED conversion of street lighting
- Involving citizens in energy projects
