I believe in the future of Görlitz more than ever.

Our city faces great challenges, as well as great opportunities. That's why I believe it's crucial that political debates are characterized by objectivity and a shared commitment to shaping the future. Görlitz needs continuity, clear goals, reliability, and a continued healthy dose of optimism. Görlitz is my passion. I'm driven by values such as responsibility, solidarity, and a firm belief in our city's future. The following insights reveal what defines me as a person and as a politician.

The Experienced One

Seven years as mayor, many years in local and state politics as a city councilor, parliamentary group member, district chairman, and member of the Saxon State Parliament, as well as experience as a works council representative and teacher, along with the political upheavals in my native Romania and the Peaceful Revolution, have made me both stronger and more confident. I know the responsibility that comes with making decisions that directly impact people's lives. For me, experience means finding the right balance between leadership, dialogue, openness, and determination, and incorporating this approach into my work every day. I intend to continue using this experience and the networks I have built to shape the future of Görlitz. With confidence and shared responsibility, we can successfully shape our city. I am convinced of this.

The Political

I understand politics as a mandate to develop reliable, honest, and responsible, concrete solutions for the people on the ground. Crucial is a factual, solution-oriented approach to politics that relies on respect and dialogue, cooperation and trust. This trust requires listening, making transparent decisions, explaining them clearly, and always placing the interests of citizens first. For many years, I have therefore been committed to economic stability, a broad range of cultural offerings, education and science, security, and social cohesion. It is important to me to weigh different interests, listen, and develop viable compromises. For me, politics is not about managing the status quo, but about actively shaping the future – together with the people.

The family man

My family gives me support and is the most important thing in my life. My wife, Désirée, and I have been happily married for over 30 years. Our two daughters, Silviana and Diandra, were born and raised in Görlitz. Due to different life paths, our large family now lives across several countries and continents – including Germany, Romania, Spain, Ireland, Canada, and the USA. Despite these geographical distances, we maintain close and regular contact and meet as often as possible. This diversity also broadens my horizons and creates different perspectives and viewpoints on things. My wife's family history has also influenced me. Her family had to flee Upper Silesia during the Second World War. We often talk about these experiences, and they have shaped my understanding of social cohesion and the value of freedom and democracy.

The Committed

Civic engagement is an important part of my life. Various volunteer positions have helped me stay grounded and make decisions that are close to the people I serve. For many years, I have been involved in diverse cultural, social, and educational associations, institutions, foundations, and organizations. This work has given me valuable insights into the social life of our city. My commitment has always been shaped by my Christian faith. For me, faith means taking responsibility, contributing, and actively participating in shaping our society. My musical roots have taught me perseverance and discipline, and the mutual respect and cohesion within the orchestra have shaped me. The most beautiful sound is created together.
